There is no one-size-fits all solution to home modifications

For example, a ramp is an excellent solution for improving access to a home. The law states that a ramp must be a minimum of 1:12. However, that number was decided upon based on research that primarily focused on young men returning home from war after an injury to their lower extremities, who generally possessed excellent upper body strength and cardiovascular endurance to maneuver a wheelchair with little to no difficulty. Older seniors and others with limiting injuries or illnesses often cannot manage a 1:12 ramp, especially as they age.
